OLAS! #22: You Make My Dreams by Hall & Oates

This song was featured recently in the indie romantic-comedy, (500) Days of Summer during a really, really amazing sequence. It’s an amazingly catchy song that’s sure to make you feel good no matter how bad you’re doing. Definitely a must have.

Check it out on iTunes here.

OLAS! #21: Your Biggest Fan by Voxtrot

Hey guys, Robert here with my first OLAS in like a month. I know, I suck. But the radtasticality level of this song should make up for it tenfold!

This is a song by Voxtrot, an indie-rock band that hails from Austin, Texas. Your Biggest Fan is from the group’s 2006 EP, “Your Biggest Fan”. It’s got a great indie-rock feel. Not too loud, very catchy, and pretty upbeat. There really isn’t much use explaining it, just take a listen!

You can find Voxtrot on their website or, of course, on iTunes.

OLAS #20 We Are Golden by Mika

Hey everyone, so I read the post about us not updating in a loooong while, and after reading Robert’s response, I’ve decided that even though I’ve lost a great majority of my music, I need to start rebuilding my library. So here’s a song that I downloaded about a week or two ago. A new single from one of my absolutely favorite artists. This song is amazing. I find myself listening to it over, and over, and over again. You should also check out the music video, which you can find here. It’s 80s-tastic, not to mention Mika is shirtless for a great majority of the video. Wait, what?

So here it is folks, our first music post in quite the long time. Enjoy! :D

Dear Robert and Bonnie,

goldendelicious:

When are you going to update OhLookASong? I love learning about fantastic music that I’ve never heard of, and you  guys have great taste when it comes down to it.
Please enhance my life.
Well, I think the problem is twofold. One, Bonnie lost all or most of her music, and while I tried giving her all of mine, the external hard drive fails to play nicely with her computer.

Two, I’m a lazy piece of shit.

But I do occasionally post music on my blog, if that makes up for it at all. But as of right now, OLAS! is somewhat officially on extended hiatus.

Peace y’all.

OLAS! #19: Last Kind Word Blues by Dex Romweber Duo (feat. Jack White)

This is truly something amazing. First, a little backstory: Mr. Jack White (of The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and most recently The Dead Weather) started this rad little record company called “Third Man Records” a few months back. Since then, they’ve released a series of singles from relatively unknown, or in some cases completely unknown artists. This particular song is from Dex Romweber Duo’s single, “The Wind Did Move, which is produced by Jack White, and features Jack lending some vocals and playing along with the duo. This song is a chilling cover of Geechie Wiley’s lost blue classic of the same name. Really fantastic. The way that Jack’s and Dex’s voices complement each other is insane. Truly some original stuff.

You can order the record directly from Third Man right here, or hit it up on iTunes right over here.

OLAS! #18: Après Moi (Live) by Regina Spektor.

A beautiful, beautiful song. And she’s so amazing live to boot. The Russian verse is a poem by Boris Pasternak. (Writer of Dr. Zhivago) Absolutely flawless.

OLAS! #17: Pain (Give Me Sympathy) by The Upholsters

This is a song by the band Jack White was in before the White Stripes. Very early White Stripes-esque, in the best possible way.

OLAS # 16 Last Day Of Magic by The Kills

I love this song, and I think I love the video even more. Off their album “Midnight Boom”.

You can check them out right over here.

Oh hey look. Our first video! :D

OLAS#15:Cold Shoulder by Adele

I’m kind of obsessed with Adele. She reminds me of Amy Whinehouse a little bit, but I like Adele’s voice. Some of her music is questionable, but most of it’s DAMN good. Oh London, you bare some of the best singers.
